So in many ways, FNV feels like a movement on from, an evolution of, FO3. In FNV, you have pinpoint accuracy - you will hit that tiny pixel precisely, so if it is deathclaw on the very edge of visibility, it it is going to have a very bad day. In FO3, your character's combat skill affects accuracy and it seems often the bullet does not land where your cursor was pointing. Or you rely on VATS to cheese them - getting their attention, jumping behind a corner and unloading a combat shotgun in their face when their come round the corner. You cower behind cover plinking away at enemies, praying to get lucky and hit them. In FO3, combat feels tough and atavistic. In FNV, there is a ton of "stuff" to pick and choose from. In FO3, there are relatively few types of weapon and gear. In FNV there are a ton of interesting companions with their own backstory and personal quests that you should travel with. In FO3, there are few companions worth bothering with and personally I just play solo - it feels more immersive that way, the world is so scary and stark. There are many story based sidequests where talking to people is essential (and fun). In FNV, there are massive powerful factions - one resembling a modern state (NCR). In FO3, there are virtually no people - often just small clusters barely clinging on to life. In FNV, I scarcely notice the bomb has dropped - I think Mr House protected New Vegas - and it feels more like a futuristic Western. In FO3, the Capitol Wasteland is utterly ruined - it's incredibly bleak. In FNV, you are an amnesiac courier and the main quest is to pick which faction rules the Mojave.
